The Second Annual "A Bryan White Christmas" was a gift enjoyed by a nearly full house Friday at Cameron University Theatre.
Grammy Award-winning country music singer, songwriter, guitarist Bryan White, now of Nashville, Tenn., is originally from Lawton; his drummer, Monte Booker still lives here; his dad lives in Hobart. Family, friends and plenty of fans added to the concert that felt like a holiday homecoming.
"My show is usually a lot more rock'n'roll," White said from the stage, "but we're doing a lot of Christmas songs tonight."
Still, his version of Chuck Berry's "Run Rudolph Run" and from the TV animation favorite ""A Charlie Brown Christmas" "Linus & Lucy" and "Christmastime," had the audience waving arms and clapping along.
White had said in an earlier interview that it was going to be a "laid back" show, and the relaxed atmosphere made it a comfortable evening.
Opening act was award-winning inspirational country artist Steve Richard. Richard's Southern drawl and strong selection of original works made him a crowd pleaser. It didn't hurt that he gave away copies of his CD "Up To Somthin'" to three lucky members of the audience. With two acoustic musicians backing him, the gifted vocalist delivered on his No. 1 hit "Eighty Acre Church" and a half-hour of songs, concluding with "Silent Night
It's a busy December for platinum-selling country music singer/songwriter Bryan White. Tonight, Bryan will enjoy the honor of singing our National Anthem at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas. The event takes place starting at 6:45pm (Pacific) at the Thomas & Mack Center and, in addition to being simulcast to 46 hotels in Las Vegas, will also be broadcast (tape delay) on Great American Country (GAC).
Bryan will also make an appearance on Good Morning Texas Wednesday, December 7th, between 9-10am in support of his performance at the Dallas Opry on December 8th. He will also do a special acoustic performance Sunday, December 11th at North Pointe Baptist Church in Edmond, OK.
All of this comes as Bryan continues his second annual Christmas tour. This tour, which kicked off last Friday in Lawton, Oklahoma, is to promote his third holiday album and also includes special guest Inspirational Country Music Award-Winner Steve Richard, which is sure to spice up the season. Our Live Guitar Lessons continue to grow and we are able to attract more and more notable names as guests each month to dispense their guitar knowledge to us and you. 1. Songwriting takes different approaches: an idea, a title, a portion of a chorus is the catalyst for the song, other times it may be a musical idea triggered by an open tuning or new chords.
2. Stay disciplined: A song may start with a flash of inspiration but discipline is what gets the song written.

The All Star Show will appear in Napier and Gisborne in New Zealand on 30/31 October and 1 November. “The cast of some of New Zealand’s best-loved and award-winning performers will ensure a professional and fun-filled show, and the inclusion of Bryan in the line-up is exciting for everyone involved here. We are very much looking forward to introducing him to more New Zealand audiences” said Rodger McCutcheon.
White was in New Zealand briefly in August to present an award at the Kiwi Pro-Am Awards in Country music, and performed a short show while in the country. He then went on to appear at the Gympie Festival in Australia, where his CD “Dustbowl Dreams” was launched.

A who's who of New Zealand country music is coming to Hamilton this weekend, and they are bringing a Nashville star with them.
The 2011 National Country Music Awards will be held at Founders Theatre in Hamilton tomorrow night and United States country music powerhouse Bryan White will be there presenting one of the awards.
White, once named on People magazine's most beautiful people list, was busy packing his bag at his home in Nashville, Tennessee, earlier this week.
The American, who joined forces with Shania Twain to sing From This Moment On and has won a raft of awards, including a Grammy, was excited about his first visit Down Under, but unsure what to expect.
"I don't know much about New Zealand," White said.
"I went to the library and checked a couple of DVDs about New Zealand to watch on my way over.
"I do know you have a lot of country music lovers there."
Kiwi country music legends Gray Bartlett, Brendan Dugan and Jodi Vaughn are also expected at the awards.
White said while he was in New Zealand he would be singing at a couple of private functions as well as attending the award ceremony but he hoped he would have time for some sightseeing as well.
"I love anything to do with the ocean," he said.
"And I love fishing. I don't know if I'll have time but I'd love to go fishing."
The National Country Music Awards, staged annually since 2006, was a one-stop opportunity for international agents to find out more about New Zealand's top country singers.
White said Kiwi country singers had every chance of hitting the big time in the United States if they were energetic and tenacious.
"Nashville is always looking for something new and fresh and different."
Tomorrow's show will also feature New Zealand's biggest selling artist across all music genres this year, Dennis Marsh, and Australian Jasmine Rae.The awards begin at 7.30pm, with tickets available from Ticketek.
A group of lucky Bryan fans crossed the threshold to the 'White House' this past Saturday for an evening of good food, great music and fun! The guest were treated to an intimate backyard concert and a tour of Bryan's Shmowland Studio, where he recorded "Dustbowl Dreams".
A fan who was in attendance summed up the event nicely in her blog saying,"Bryan opened his home, graciously, even greeting everyone as they walked through the front door. American country music powerhouse, BRYAN WHITE, has confirmed his attendance at the awards. White has charted 17 singles on Billboard's Country Charts, had six number one singles, two platinum records, two gold records, he joined forces with Shania Twain and together they took "From This Moment On" all the way up to number four on Billboard's Hot 100 Chart. He has a Grammy, a CMA Horizon Award, and an ACM Top Male Vocalist award among them. And, with his songwriting, he helped several other artists climb the charts including Wynonna and LeAnn Rimes. The accolades led him to various TV appearances such as "The Tonight Show," "Late Night With David Letterman," NBC's "The Today Show," and "CBS This Morning."
